WSOP Poker

Summary

WSOP Poker is a refreshing new ingredient to the online poker pot.

Full Tilt Poker may have the pros, and PokerStars the high volume of players, but WSOP Poker is, ''the world''s biggest and most trusted brand...online for real money''.

Endorsed by the World Series of Poker and part of the 888 gaming network, it offers players a safe and comprehensive gaming experience.

Plus when you sign-up to WSOP.com you'll get $500 free.

Key Tournaments

WSOP Poker fairs alot better in terms of tournament variety. There are low-buyin events from as little as $1 - ideal for beginners - and Daily Challenge tournaments which guarantee juicy prize pools. The $109, $12.5k guaranteed Tuesday Challenge tournament caters for the highroller, but there''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s no trademark $50k H.O.R.S.E event to be found in the virtual Vegas. Sit n''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''Go tourneys range from $0.50 to $1,000, with the emphasis on heads-up. The real carrot is host of live tournament satellites running around the clock - WSOP Poker is the perfect place to qualify for the prestigious Aussie Millions in January.

Game Variety

WSOP Poker offers a decent variety of poker games: Hold'em (No Limit, Fixed Limit, Pot Limit), Omaha (Hi, Hi-Lo), 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo, and Hold'em games with a progressive bad beat jackpot. However there are no Razz and mixed games. If WSOP Poker is to recreate even half of Harrah's drama and prestige, it needs to throw in some H.O.R.S.E games at least. Everything just seems a bit underwhelming - as if the site has just been 'slapped' brazenly with the WSOP tag for the sake of it.

Traffic

Cash game traffic is centered around the Hold’em games, but there's also a solid playerbase dabbling in Omaha Hi Lo and 7 card stud. Cash game traffic tops 2,500, and in total you can expect up to 4,000 players online during peak times. You'll never find problems joining games up to the $2/$4 level. From $5/$10 onwards, play tends to centre more around heads up, with a host of regulars waiting at the tables.

Rake

Rake at WSOP Poker is in accordance with the industry average and like most sites adopts a 'no flop, no drop' policy, which means the pot is only raked when the flop is viewed.

For Limit games, rake is 5% up to $15/$30 blinds, where it drops to 2.5% with a max cap of $3 for a full table. It drops even more for the nosebleed stakes.

For No-Limit and Pot-Limit, rake at the micro-stakes is a little over 6%. From 5¢/10¢ up the rake is 5% up to $25/$50, where it's a flat $3.

Cap at a full table is $4, which is approximately $1 higher than the average site.

Competition

If the WSOP in Vegas is supposed to attract the best players in the world, its online face lures in the fish. Because Casino-on-Net/888 operates the internet's biggest casino since its inception way back in 1996, you can expect a surplus of loose gamblers operating at the lower stakes. It has a reputation as being the softest network on the web, and now that the software is more accessible, you can take full advantage. All those weak, passive calling stations contribute to viewed flop percentages as high as 75% on some full ring tables. Watch out the Scandinavian regulars though, prowling the high stakes, heads-up cash games.

Support

The WSOP Poker support email is support@wsop.com, and there is also phone support (08082389815) and live chat options as well. Live chat can take a few moments for operators to log on during peak hours, but for the most part all support is swift and effective.
