Pkr Poker

Summary

Pkr Poker is an independent site, boasting a comprehensive software package which includes 3D graphics, a detailed lobby interface, and a number of freerolls for beginners.

Player comfort really comes first at Pkr. There's a strong sense of community with the Pkr forums / messageboards, Pkr televsion (which streamed WSOP coverage) and ''Raise your Game'' (features strategy articles from pros) emblazoned on the site.

For players wanting to combine the thrill of winning money and realistic gamplay, Pkr is the place to play.

Key Tournaments

The tournaments compensate for the limited ring game options. Several guaranteed, re-buy and bounty tournaments run hourly, with manageable fields between 20 and 250 giving you a better chance of glory.

The zenith of Pkr tournaments is the $530 buy-in ‘Saturday Big Shot’, and you get a real sense of occasion with the final table hole-cards screened on Pkr TV. As well as loyalty freerolls such as the ‘$10,000 Monthly Freeroll’ for sufficient rake accumulators, there are satellites running for live poker, including the APT Macau in August.

Game Variety

There isn't a great choice of games at Pkr: Hold'em (NL, Pot-Limit, Fixed Limit), Pot Limit Omaha (Hi, Hi-Lo). There are no Stud, Razz, or mixed games, although Pkr are looking to add the former. At least there is a good range of stakes, from $0.01/$0.02 to $100/$200.

Traffic

Alot of the traffic is concentrated on low stakes games and recreational players testing on the software in 'fun mode'. Nevertheless, you can expect up to 1,100 cash game players during peak hours, and up to 5,000 tournament players.

Full ring and shorthanded micro-stakes tables are well represented, however tables above the $2-4 limit are few and far between. PLO and Hi-Lo games are sparsely populated in off peak hours, and there are no Stud or Draw games available.

Rake

Same as the industry average - 5%, with a $3 maximum rake at any game.

PKR uses a standard "no flop - no drop" policy, meaning they don’t collect rake from pots where a flop wasn't seen.

Competition

Since Pkr is a relatively new site, it has its fair share of loose beginners. With viewed flopped percentages as high as 60 per cent, there's plenty of loose, passive fish.

Such is the software’s  in game playability, you get a lot of players entering a hand just for the sake of it. It’s far more entertaining to engage in a multi-way pot, ‘shouting’ across the table, than wait several minutes as action unfolds. High stakes action is pretty much a non event (play beyond the $2-4 level can be virtually non-existent), but there’s surplus fish at low stakes.

Support

As well as standard e-mail support, Pkr offers live chat with an online customer services representative. They will do their best to resolve your queries, and forward the issue to the relevant department if not. The one gripe is the lack of phone support, which for software of such magnitude, is a slight let-down. Security wise, Pkr seems to have an impeccable record
