The World Series of Poker (WSOP), the richest sporting event on the planet, continues to attract the world’s best poker players and 2013 will be no different.

The WSOP is the most famous series of poker tournaments the world has ever seen and since Benny Binion invited six of the best poker players on the planet to play with him at the Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas in 1970, the tournament has never looked back.

Players may qualify through the ranking system for a nationally televised Circuit championship bracelet event with a $1 million prize and victory in the series guarantees a place at the top table in the poker community.

The 2013 WSOP Main Event starts on Sunday July 7th at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas Nevada and it will run until Tuesday July 16th.

Just under 75,000 players took part in the 2012 WSOP and as far as side events go, 2013 cash games being on May 29th and run for the whole series.

The buy in for the 44th World Series of Poker is $10,000 but you can qualify for the tournament through PokerStars today.
