Ziigmund... cool as you like
PLO action boomed last night on Full Tilt Poker, with $100k + pots dropping left right and centre. The 9-handed, $300/$600 ‘This is Nuts’ table attracted a bevy of stellar names, including Patrik Antonius, Tom Dwan, David Benyamine, Phil Galfond and Ilari ‘Ziigmund’ Sahamies.
An incredible 95 pots surpassed the $100k mark, and 2 pots exceeded $500k. It wasn’t just the action that began to hot up, as tempers flared too. Gus Hansen and Ziigmund began exchanging curses, as the charismatic Dane lamented Ziigmund’s reckless play, which saw him spin up a $560k stack. Hansen accused Ziigmund of being drunk, only to get a petulant, ‘heads up whenever’ reply. Ziigmund is frequently seen taunting Hansen (who may also be resentful of the fact Sahamies gets ‘backed’ by wealthy businessmen) on Full Tilt chat.
Ziigmund and Phil ‘OMGClayAiken’ Galfond locked horns in a $550k pot, with the Finn making a $15k 3-bet pre-flop with 6

10 Q. Sensing pot odds, Ziigmund also called.
Galfond made a $180k pot size bet on a 8 5 Q flop, with top pair, a gutshot straight draw and a back door flush draw. Antonius folded, and it was an easy call for Ziigmund with an open ended straight and flush draw. The 2 on the turn gave Ziigmund the nuts, with the river irrelevant.
David Benyamine also raked in a monster $547k pot 3-way. With $49k in the pot, Tom Dwan (4 9 6
5) made a pot sized continuation bet on a 8 5 2 flop, with inside straight draws. Antonius boosted it up to $143k with 4 7 6 6 for a strong wrap draw. With Antonius and durrrr holding several of each others outs, it was an easy call for Benyamine, who tabled 5 5 Q A for middle set. The A and J on the turn and river did not complete any draws, and the $547k pot went over to Benyamine.
Antonius bit back when he flopped a set himself. He clashed with Russian pro ‘knluiy’ when he shoved on a 9 7 Q board with 3 7 7 3 for bottom set and a flush draw. Knluiy called with Q J 9 4 – top two pair. The 3 8 on the turn and river handed the $606k pot to Antonius.
