The action of World Team Poker will air on Fox Sports Net in July
A newly minted agreement between World Team Poker and Fox Sports Net means that poker fans will be able to catch the broadcast of World Team Poker action in July.
The first World Team Poker event was won by Team China. WTP runs like an international poker sports league; each team has a captain (or, in some cases, co-captains) and players compete individually, earning points that go to a team total. When the teams pass the qualifying rounds, however, a new wrinkle appears. The team captain can make player substitutions based on who they think would do the best in certain circumstances.
The World Team Poker Inaugural Event was held at the Golden Nugget on May 19, 2010, and will be the first of the new television series. The initial episode is planned for July 14, 2010. After that date the show will run in one-hour episodes on Sunday nights, beginning September 2010.
