Brash UK businessman Sammy ‘any two’ George is the first player to put his name down for the live ‘durrrr challenge’ in London.
The $1 million challenge proposed by Dwan demands both players buy in for $500k, with $500/$1000 blinds. 500 hands must be completed, unless a player goes bust in the mean time. George is known as a wealthy entrepreneur who dabbles in poker, but he came 23rd in the $15k NL Hold’em Championship at the Bellagio this year to prove he is no pushover.
George prides himself on being a maniac with a reckless ‘any two cards’ approach, so Dwan will be hot favourite to come out triumphant. Poker fans had been hoping for Luke ‘FullFlush1’ Schwartz to take up the challenge, given his constant berating of Tom Dwan and his abilities. The challenge will take place at the Matchroom Sports club in September, with Dwan commenting, ‘I am looking forward to sitting down and playing some of the World's best players live in London. There looks to be lots of interest in people wanting to play me but they never seem to appear on-line’.
Meanwhile, in other UK scene news, Dragons Den reject JJ Hazan clinched victory in a GUKPT event at Luton last weekend, winning the £300 bounty event for £6060. Despite a polished pitch, Britain’s top entrepreneurs all refused to invest £50,000 in return for a share of Hazan’s tournament winnings. They may live to regret it, as Hazan has qualified for the Champion of Champions event at the end of the year.
