Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius once again took to the online poker tables to continue their 50,000 hand challenge, and for the eighth time in nine meetings, Dwan came out on top, this time to the tune of $314,828.
The progress of the “durrr challenge” has been very slow, mainly due to the fact there has been a lot of high-stakes action taking place over the past few months, with the arrival and departure of “Isildur1” being the highlight. With the action now seemingly drying up, two of poker’s Goliaths decided to continue with the challenge they started early last year.
In total the duo played 883 hands of $200/$400 heads-up pot-limit Omaha, and of those hands six of them sa pots in excess of $100,000, with the largest being won by Antonius when he hit a seven-high straight on the river, despite being a nine-to-one underdog when the money went in. He will not care about that though, just about the $150,777 that slid his way.
By the time the pair had called it a night, Dwan had extended his lead over Antonius to almost $1,400,000 and with only 17,000 left to play, it will be hard work for the “Flying Finn” to claw back his losses, which would mean he has to pay Dwan $500,000. If he does manage to turn things around, not only will he have wiped out $1,400,000 of losses, but he will also win $1,500,000 from Tom Dwan.
