They call him Houdini – Karl Hevroy escapes defeat at LAPT

Brian Thomas - 23 Mar 2009

Twenty year old Norwegian poker player Karl Hevroy picked up a few things this week in Punta del Este. A PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour championship, $283,500, and a new nickname.

It started out as a joke – Tournament Director Mike Ward started calling Hevroy “Houdini” after the master escape artist of legend thanks to the youngster’s seemingly magic ability to escape defeat time and again. The magic – and the nickname – stuck to Hevroy, who defeated the final table of determined men to secure his victory and a fantastic payday.

Twenty years old and a poker champ - seems to be the new norm.

The LAPT continues to crank out champions, and if you want to be on that list you should click here to hit up PokerStars and qualify today.
