Room Changes at PokerStars

CrunchPoker Staff - 15 Apr 2010

The PokerStars game client has changed – will you like what you find?

When PokerStars updates it typically means a handful of features, performance upgrades and the like. The latest upgrade, however, showed some significant changes.

There are the New Cash Game Buy Ins, a response to the issue of short stacking on PokerStars.  PokerStars will now provide players with three tiers of cash game buy ins:

    * 20-50 big blinds
    * 40-100 big blinds
    * 100-250 big blinds (with antes)

The idea behind the changes is to allow those players who prefer to play with less “crazy fish” to play in the deeper blind buy ins. To play in one of these games a player can’t sit down without 100 times the big blind: so a $1 and $2 game would require a minimum buy in of $200.

There are a few Tournament Changes as well. PokerStars now offers knockout tournaments, which will feature in the upcoming SCOOP with SCOOP Event #12, a KO tournament.

Also introduced is a new satellite structure awarding seats to multiple target events if a player wins multiple satellites.

Something very unusual are gender-restricted tournaments: soon ladies and mens-only MTTs will be offered.
