Roland de Wolfe snags first WSOP win

Roland de Wolfe, the man with a thousand nicknames, wins his first WSOP Bracelet

The 40th annual World Series of Poker is special for a number of reasons; they held the first ever $40k no limit Hold’em event, it’s the 40th anniversary – and Roland de Wolfe has won his first bracelet.

This brings the total of U.K. players with WSOP wins this season up to… TWO! Roland picked up his gold bracelet and huge cash prize by winning event 27 – not just another ubiquitous no limit hold’em event, but the $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better.

This, by the way, may be the haven of the pros – anything BUT the NLHE events. Playing in the other games like PLO means less dead money, but it also means less lucky players getting in the way.

Roland was the first player to win WPT and EPT championship titles, and is only the second player to have victories in those plus the WSOP tours.
