PokerStars have unveiled a revolutionary new roster – Team PokerStars Online.
After studying 2,000 applications, the world’s biggest poker site have selected 23 online maestros to join the likes of Daniel Negreanu and Peter Eastgate as PokerStars representatives.
A rigorous whittling down process saw twenty men and three women, from 18 different countries, join the ranks. Although several have endured success in the most prestigious online events, such as the WCOOP and Sunday Million, expect to see players mixing it up at lower stakes and coming to a table near you.
Thomas ‘Boku87’ Boekhoff is one of the most intriguing selections. Earlier this year, the former Pokerstrategist went from $100 to $10,000 in the space of a few weeks, playing just SnG’s. He is now undertaking his biggest challenge yet – $5 to $100,000, and is documenting his progress on the PokerStars blog. Other notable selections include Steve ‘stevesbets’ Jacobs, who triumphed over ElkY at the WCOOP $25k Heads-Up Championship for $560k.
PokerStars has announced it plans to add to the roster in 2010. There is an online petition across twoplustwo for ‘Jorj95’ to be the next addition. The ultimate SnG grinder wades through 10 hour, 20-tabling sessions on a daily basis, and has set the all time VPP record.
Meanwhile PokerStars will make another world record attempt for the largest online poker tournament ever played. The $1 buy-in NLH tournament will take place on December 27th at 2:45 p.m ET, and guarantee $50,000 to the winner.
