PokerStars player Gomes wins WPT Bellagio

Team Pokerstars Pro Alex Gomes takes down the WPT Bellagio for the win.

Team PokerStars Pro Alex Gomes cashed in the WSOP this year, but it was for a $5,300 cash for an 80th place finish in a minor event – not the stuff dreams are made of. Some pros may have walked away from Vegas with their head hung low, but not Alex Gomes.

He hit the Bellagio to play the WPT event along with 267 other players, and took down the $15,000 buy-in event. He is now a World Poker Tour champ and $1,187,670 richer.

The Brazilian poker pro now holds a win in the WPT and the WSOP, thanks to his 2008 efforts at winning his first WSOP bracelet. He’s come close to a EPT title, too, thanks to a fourth place finish at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.
