The future of the PokerStars North American Poker Tour may be in doubt.
When the first PokerStars North American Poker Tour event was held in Las Vegas at the Venetian, it was a huge success. The Main Event had 872 players and a total prize pool of over $4 million. The winner, Tom Marchese, scooped $827,000. Two more stops of the NAPT followed.
Now, perhaps coinciding with the official compliance date of the UGIEA around the corner, Nevada gaming officials are investigating the wisdom of their Las Vegas casinos dealing with offshore poker rooms.
PokerStars is no stranger to land-based poker series, with the European Poker Tour the first and oldest, followed by the Latin American Poker Tour and Australia New Zealand Poker Tour and more. The NAPT seemed a perfect addition, but for now the event’s future is unclear.
One thing that IS clear is that if the NAPT is to continue, the only place you will be able to qualify will be at PokerStars – sign up and play today!
