Poker in the Park approaches

CrunchPoker Staff - 11 Aug 2009

Forget the festivals - Poker in the Park is the place to be for UK poker enthusiasts, as former WSOP Main Event champions Jamie Gold and Peter Eastgate host a 50 player charity tournament in honour of the Jamie Gold Foundation.

At 7:30PM GMT on Thursday, the likes of Dave 'The Devilfish' Ulliot and Daniel Craig will take to the green felt, and compete for added prizes which include a £3,000 Unibet Open package, a £1,000 Gevril watch and a £5,200 London EPT entry courtesy of PokerStars.

Proceedings from the event, including the buy-ins, will go towards the many charities included in the Gold Foundation, such as Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and Sunflower Children.

In a full length interview with Pokernewsdaily which you can check out here, Gold also discusses his own future. Having dabbled in poker room sponsorship, which saw him leave Aced Poker in acrimonious circumstances, Gold is now looking to represent a European room. Since his 2006 Main Event victory, Gold has endured a tumultuous time in the poker world. He has failed to replicate his tournament success, became involved in legal proceedings with Bodog over a supposed 'stake' of winnings he owed them from the Main Event, and was castigated for his play on GSN's High Stakes Poker.
