Poker after Dark table re-draw inspires fireworks

CrunchPoker Staff - 16 Dec 2009

Last week, the Poker after Dark ‘Railbird Heaven’ cash game was interrupted by a host of flips and prop bets. Action continued in a similar vein this week, with Dwan the first to seize a $400k flip. American pro David Peat, seen earlier this year on GSN’s High Stakes Poker, also joined the action, replacing Gus Hansen who booked a $600k profit.

Ivey, Negreanu and Antonius continued to dabble in degeneracy, with their notepads at the ready to keep track of the flop prop bets (on the colour of cards). Dwan hit the jackpot in the first flip, tabling Q Q, to Hansen’s 7 5, Ivey’s 10 9, and Daniel’s 7 3. The 4 2 K 8 K board brought no surprises, but left Hellmuth cursing his luck for folding a king.

Newcomer Peat quickly showed his shrewd reading abilities as he clashed with durrrr. Dwan (A Q) check-raised Peat to $35k on a 6 Q 5 flop, drawing a reluctant fold from ‘Viffer’ (Q 10).

Dwan and Antonius then tangled in a monster pot. Holding 6 4 on a 3 2 2 7 J board for a busted flush and gutshot straight draw, Antonius faced a $43k river bet from durrrr (A J). The measured Finn was not deterred however, putting in a raise to $135k. An astounded Dwan mulled over the decision, before making a gutsy call and raking in the $321k pot. Despite his successful live performances on High Stakes Poker and PAD, Dwan's 2009 has been overshadowed by a $6 million deficit online.
