A young Patrik Antonius at the tables
Finnish phenomenon Patrik Antonius is the latest player to receive a good Pokertubing.
The poker community’s favourite video sharing website continues to grow in profile, as it conducts a string of feature length interviews with some of the hottest pros. Last week burly Full Tilt Poker owner Howard Lederer took the hotseat, and this week it was the turn of the man dubbed ‘adonis’ for his handsome looks.
With his cool, friendly style, interviewer Stefan Wittmoss seems to have built up a good rapport with poker’s Scandinavian contingent. PLO specialist Ilari ‘Ziigmund’ Sahamies and Full Tilt Poker pro Gus Hansen have also featured on the website.
Revelling in the Monte Carlo sun, Antonius reflects on his gloomy online start to 2010, fellow high stakes adrenaline seekers, and the state of poker in general. Having topped the earnings chart last year, raking in a mammoth $7.2 million for his online poker exertions, Antonius has dropped approximately $2 million since January.
Antonius makes an interesting point regarding poker etiquette. He jokingly accuses close friend and fellow Finn Ziigmund of having no manners and leaving too abruptly. He does, however, maintain that Ziigmund displays incredible poker skills given his wild lifestyle. In fact, he hasn’t consistently beaten hot-headed Sahamies in two years. Antonius is eagerly anticipating the $50k, blockbuster opener to the 2010 WSOP, but insists he will only be playing five events.
Antonius, often considered to be the ‘voice of reason’ in the high stakes community, condemned Di ‘Urindanger’ Dang for his disrespectful antics in the latest issue of Cardplayer magazine. ‘I just dont like the way he chats to people. I just dont understand him. I dont really respect his game as much as the other guys(Ivey, Zig, OMGCLAY, DURR), but he is a winning player. He beats lower limits for sure. I just dont like his way of doing things. He's not respectful. I don’t really care for him’.
Antonius had more favourable words for Dang’s brother Trex313, ‘I have played with him less than urindanger. He's a class act compared tohis brother. But he doesnt play much these days. The Dangs have been keeping a low profile for a long time’. It is thought that Antonius’s contempt towards Urindanger lies in the online pro’s constant berating of fellow Scandi Gus Hansen.
