Scotty Nguyen looking slightly less angry
Day 3 of the WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Classic was overshadowed by another Scotty Nguyen outburst.
The once charismatic, exuberant Nguyen has showed his ugly side over the past few years, starting with a drunken, foul mouth tirade at the $50k H.O.R.S.E final table in 2008. This time, bleeding chips, Nguyen harshly reprimanded a dealer for a mistake. Fellow player Dan O’Brien tried to placate Scotty, but was subject to a tirade of ‘F-bombs’. Desperate to prove a point, the 1997 WSOP Main Event winner decided to play a hand blind against O’Brien, in the end losing 100,000 chips.
A fiery Nguyen would not be denied however, and surged up to 3rd chip position, when he pushed all in with 7

board. His opponent tabled pocket aces, but they were cracked when the 7
spiked on the river to gift Nguyen trips.
Despite a depleted field from last year, 36 players go into Day 4. Among them is High Stakes Poker Season 2 regular Daniel Alaei (famous for donning khaki gear), who got a big break when his A

outkicked Brian Devonshire’s A
