Lady Gaga to grace APT?

P..P..P….Pokerface. Glamorous pop star Lady Gaga is the latest celebrity to be given an official invitation to the Asian Poker Tour (APT) in Macau.

The APT can’t resist handing out wacky invitations as it desperately seeks to increase the popularity of poker in the region. If you’re famous and have the remotest connection with the game, then you could be jetting off to Macau with all expenses paid. Last week, the APT invited champion swimmer Michael Phelps to its festival, and this week it is courting Lady Gaga, who brought attention to the game with her hit song ‘Pokerface’.

The official written invitation states, ‘Imagine the reaction if you showed your poker face at the Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival dear Lady Gaga. Despite what some poker purists might argue, you have brought the great game to the attention to millions of new people through your worldwide best selling hit. Congratulations on your nine MTV Video Award nominations, but do us and the world a favour, come and see us in Macau and show us your poker face! We would be honoured.’

Meanwhile, Ultimate Bet has added a familiar female face to its roster – British star Live Boeree. Boeree, who featured in a poker coaching reality show with Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke, triumphed in the Ladbrokes European Ladies Championship last year. She is respected presenter and journalist on the UK poker circuit, having been involved with Sky Poker TV, Gala UK Poker Tour and the WSOPE.

Boeree beamed, ‘Annie and Phil are two of my favourite players so to sit on the same team as them is a bit of a surreal experience, but one I'm definitely proud of’.
