CrunchPoker Staff - 27 Mar 2009

Norwegian Poker pro Jonny Lodden has signed on with Poker Stars. His sponsorship deal has been announced right before the Norwegian Poker Championships in which Lodden will play as part of Team Poker Stars for the first time. Lodden faces stiff competition in his homeland with the likes of Annette Obrestad and Trond Eidsvig among others.

After that, Lodden is expected to play at the EPT San Remo and then the Monte Carlo Grand Final. Lodden has had much success on the European Poker Tour making seven cashes there.

Lodden burst onto the scene as a teenager. By the time he was 18, he was one of the top online players in the world. Then in ’04, he won the St. Maarten Open. In 2008, he took the 11th slot at the WSOP Main Event, narrowly missing the final table.

Thomas Udness, Marketing Manager for Poker Stars in Norway, says of the signing, “This signing is fantastic for PokerStars.com, Johnny Lodden and the Norwegian Poker community. Since his breakthrough in 2004 Johnny has played on a really high level, and deserves the title as the first Norwegian Team PokerStars Pro.”
