April 1st was day for pranks, including one about mystery man Isildur1
Isildur1 has been in the poker news a lot lately, including the news that he will finally show his face in public, although he may be wearing a mask. One bit of news that seemed related to the above was a bit of April Foolery.
In advance of his appearance at the PartyPoker Big Game IV the Cake Poker Blog “outed” Isildur1 as former Swedish hockey star Mats Sundin. About the only thing that people think they know about Isildur1 is that he is Swedish, so there was just enough “truth” to the rumor to make it believable – the key to a nice April Fools prank.
According to the Cake Poker Blog various Swedish news outlets had reported the news and an official announcement was pending from Sundin’s agent later in the day, but of course that never happened.
Eventually the Cake Poker Blog copped to the joke with a story titled “Isildur1 is (Probably) Not Mats Sundin.”
