Full Tilt news – FTOPS crack on, ‘theASHMAN’ wins big

CrunchPoker Staff - 12 Aug 2009

The most prestigious online poker tournament series, the FTOPS, are in full flow, with some familiar faces making headways.

Kevin ‘GetPWN3D’ Saul triumphed in Event 11, the $216 mixed PLO/Hold’em event for $57,640, boosting his FTOP career earnings to $270,000. Saul has also taken the live tournament scene by storm over the past two years, final tabling the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and scooping a WPT Bellagio Cup title. Despite his success, Saul hasn’t escaped scrutiny from the twoplustwo gossip forums. One poster berated his attitude, as he allegedly slow rolled a player with AAJ0 double suited – a very powerful holding in PLO.

Saul’s victory follows Andy Bloch’s second place finish in the $216 Stud event last Friday, and Isaac Baron’s final table appearance in the Six-Max knockout.

Meanwhile 20 year old Ashton ‘theASHMAN103’ Griffin, who has gone from $1 million to bust three times in a tumultuous career, has been interviewed over at Pokerlistings.com. ‘theASHMAN103’ as he is known on Full Tilt Poker, is back in the blue now, and can be seen sitting with stacks over $300k at the high stakes PLO tables.

Ashton describes how misplaced ‘shots’ and poor bankroll management took its toll as he lost major pots to Phil Ivey and Hac ‘trex’ Dang, leaving him with just $200. However, dedicated grinding and victory in the $25k heads up tournament for $551,250 set him back on track. ‘theASHMAN103’ is also famous for using fake I.D. to sneak into Bobby’s room, the high stakes arena at the Bellagio. You can check out the full interview here.

In other Full Tilt high stakes action, ‘DIN_FRU’, rumoured to be Swede Erik Sagstrom, was left cursing his luck as he was crushed by Phil Ivey in 7-Game heads up. Dropping about $150k, Fru wrote in chat, ‘that’s what happens when you lose every pot all day’.
