Dwan is in command at the 30,000 hand mark
Tom Dwan looks set to end 2009 on a brighter note as he nears a $1 million lead in the durrrr challenge. It’s been a grim year online for Dwan, as he shoulders a $5.5 million deficit – the result of a titanic battle with Isildur1.
The challenge has proved to be a bit of an anti-climax, overshadowed by the high stakes crusades of Martonas and Isildur1. It went stale over the summer months, as a busy World Series of Poker schedule prevented any hands being played. But with the tournament calendar over for this year, the two Team Full Tilt members sat down and gave railbirds a festive treat.
Dwan and Antonius engaged in a 2,000 hand session, boosting the total hands played to 30,000. Durrrr ran out a $225k winner to increase his overall lead to $937k. Should he hold out over the next 20,000 hands, Dwan stands to win an additional $500k, as part of the 3-1 proposition bet. But nothing is guaranteed, with PLO proving to be the most volatile poker variant over the past few months.
