Quad queens ran afoul of quad aces for Ladbrokes Poker player Tjv1964, but he wound up laughing all the way to the bank thanks to hitting the Bad Beat Jackpot.
By now you likely know how this works. Have a great hand crushed by a better hand and you would normally be cursing, but when you play on a bad beat jackpot table, you wind up dancing a jig instead.
The player started the hand behind his opponent carrotkid, who was holding pocket rockets to Tjv1964 holding Ladies. The flop brought them both a set, but the queen on the turn seemed to cinch it for Tjv1964 – and made sure than the ace on the river would trigger the jackpot.
Carrottkid won the hundred dollars in the pot, but that was a pittance when the jackpot money came in, giving him more than $40k and Tjv1964 more than double that. Two other players slumming in the hand each picked up nearly $6k.
The Ladbrokes Bad Beat Jackpot is paid out once a hand of quad 8s or better is beaten. Could be you.
