David Benyamine’s online fortunes took a turn for the better as he raked in $400k from temperamental PLO specialist Ilari 'Ziigmund' Sahamies.
Benyamine endured a vicious downswing in late 2008 and the early part of 2009, prompting some poker circles to give him the derogatory nickname ‘Degenyamine’. His recent win at the $500/$1000 NLH and $300/$600 PLO tables now see him up $445k for the year, and dent Ziigmund’s 2009 profits to just over $3 million.
The largest pot was just shy of $300k, and came in Ziigmund’s less favoured variant – No-Limit Hold’em. On a 7

board, Ziigmund (9

. The turn symbolised disaster for Ziigmund, as the 9
gifted him two pair. All the money went in and the 10
bricked on the river, gifting Benyamine the $290k pot.
Ziigmund managed to keep his down losses down when he scooped a $224k pot towards the end of the session. The money went in on a 5
