The WPT Borgata Poker Open kicked off in Atlantic City.
The World Poker Tour has a huge draw for poker players, and their 2009 Borgata Poker Open has officially begun in Atlantic City. This year there will be a whopping 50 events to play at the Borgata Casino, leading up to the smallest buy in ever for a World Poker Tour championship event.
The WPT Borgata main event will only run a runner $3,300, which is a far cry from the $10k of the WSOP main event, or the $25k often charged for a World Poker Tour main event. As a sign of the times the lower buy in could be seen as bad news for poker, but on the other hand it could open the field to a lot more players not balanced on huge piles of cash in their bankrolls.
The main event runs at the end of September.
