Adrien Allain in APT Macau triumph

Adrien Allain triumphed in the APT Macau Main Event in a Moneymaker-esque fairytale story. The 23 year old Frenchman qualified via a $5 satellite on Pkr, and steamrollered through the field to claim the $391,556 first prize.

The event featured a 326 strong field, including the likes of Johnny Chan and the ‘Poker Pack’ – a group of six pros heralding from Asia, acting as unofficial ambassadors in order to promote poker in the region.

Overnight chip leader Inwook Choi was ousted by Allain in heads up play, and had to settle for a $214,158 pay day. J.C. Tran made the ‘Poker Pack’ proud with an admirable 3rd place finish. He received a much needed double up when his A 7 spiked a 7 on the turn against Allain’s A 10, but later succumbed to the Frenchman when his A8 ran into Allain’s AQ, with the latter hitting a straight on the river.

Allain got a fair share of luck in heads up play, when his A 3 inflicted a brutal beat on Choi’s A Q. A 7 2 3 J J board gifted Allain the title and his first major tournament cash.
