AP/UB introduce 7-2 phenomenon

Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet of the CEREUS Network have introduced a funky new feature to their Hold’Em cash games – the 7-deuce game.

Made popular on GSN’s High Stakes Poker Season Four, and more recently a Poker After Dark cash game, players can now place a side bet ranging from one and a half to two times the big blind. If a player scoops a pot and shows the 7-deuce bluff, he collects the side bets.

Ultimate Bet ambassador Phil Hellmuth, who famously threw Mike Matusow off pocket kings on an episode of High Stakes Poker with the measly 7-2, mused in a press release, ‘The 7-2 side pot adds an adrenaline-pumping element to Hold’em that you need to experience to believe. I once bluffed Mike Matusow off of two kings with 7-2 as my hole cards. Everyone at the table was floored, but I was on top of the world after collecting $500 for pulling it off with the worst hand in poker. Now, this awesome side pot game is available online at Ultimate Bet and Hold’em will never be the same again’.

UB and AP are seeking to restore to some credibility to their software after last year’s scandal, which saw super account users steal millions from the nosebleed stake games with a hole card exposure tool. Player ‘Potripper’ famously made a sick call with just 8 high in a NL Hold’em tournament. Ultimate Bet was dogged with more controversy when, despite holding the worst hand, a pot in a high stakes Limit game bizarrely went to Phil Hellmuth on showdown.

UB recently introduced ante games and a more secure player to player transfer system in a software update. Currently, the CEREUS network is the 7th largest online poker network.

A final $530 buy-in 25 Seat Aruba Super Satellite tournament will run on September 13th for the 2009 Ultimate Bet Aruba Classic on the idyllic Poker Island on October 3rd.
