2010 Tournament of Champions Names Released

Each year the WSOP Tournament of Champions players are selected by various means – the 2010 names included popular votes and a few exemptions.

Voting ran from March 15th until June 15th, with 355,081 votes cast, Phil Ivey grabbing the most votes with Daniel Negreanu right behind.

There were some automatic exemptions, players that got their seat because of past performance:

Annie Duke, 2004 TOC Champion
Mike Matusow, 2005 TOC Champion
Mike Sexton, 2006 TOC Champion
Joe Cada, 2009 WSOP main event Champion
Barry Shulman, 2009 WSOPE main event Champion

Two other players were exempted in – the only players not to hold WSOP bracelets, one of the criteria for playing the TOC: Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, who won the WSOP Academy Playoff, and Andrew Barton, who qualified via WSOP.com.

The 2010 Tournament of Champions starts Sunday, June 27th and ends July 4th.
