European, online poker network giant iPoker recently announced its 2 billionth hand promotion, which would see the winner receive a $40k cash prize and $20k in Irish Open / WSOP tournament packages.
However, the promotion seems shrouded in controversy, as twoplustwo user Derrickki claims he hit the 2 billion hand mark (whilst 10 tabling $0.25/50 heads up), but is now being stonewalled by his iPoker skin, Betfold. This was despite a pop-up appearing in his chatbox, telling him to visit the promotional website for more details on how to claim his prize. He isn’t receiving much joy out of iPoker either, and has come to the conclusion Betfold was not participating in the promotion.
It all seems rather confusing – is Betfold an illegitimate skin with financial concerns? Why would iPoker create such a promotion that doesn’t stretch across all of its skins? Perhaps they were banking on the mark being achieved on one of their more popular skins, such as Titan Poker.
It’s too early to say whether the blame lies with Betfold or iPoker, but it doesn’t serve as good publicity for Europe’s premier online poker network. We’ll inform you on any updates or statements from iPoker accordingly. You can keep track of the thread here.
