Poker Stars could have just tossed out this Spring Championship of Online Poker and people would have been happy. Any excuse to throw out a series of poker tournaments at a room like Poker Stars is a good one; but they took things a step further and gave the entire series a twist.
“Hey” they said. “Hey, why not run the same events at different stake levels? Sort of give everyone a chance to play the game they want.”
The idea is a great one. Say you love short handed no limit Hold’em, and you see the tournament is running with a $50 buy in. If that is your comfort level, great, sign up and play. But what if you can’t afford $50 but want to play? Or what if $50 is just not enough to challenge you, but you still want to play? That’s where SCOOP comes in.
As you can see in the image on the right, which shows the stakes for the SCOOP Event 1 (which just happens to be six handed NLHE) you can buy in for $5, $50 or $500. Everybody wins! (Well, not really, only one player wins per event, but you get the idea.)
