PokerStars LAPT Mexico Final finaly done

Brian Thomas - 18 Mar 2009

You’ve heard the drama before – PokerStar’s Latin American Poker Tour Mexico was broken up by the fedaralies, sending everyone packing, and the site was cool enough to continue the event online. Well, the online portion has concluded, ending what would have been the longest delay in a poker tournament if it wasn’t for the WSOP main event.

There were still 89 players in the action when the event was shut down, and those players got a special ticket to a freeroll on PokerStars in order to play it down to the final table of nine. The original prize pool was topped off by a $50k bonus thanks to PokerStars coolness factor.

Twenty six year old Rory Cox, from San Francisco outlasted the rest of the players until he faced off against Helen Prager. Despite a five to one chip lead Prager managed to get ahead, but then after the two hour heads up match was over, Cox took down the event and a $15k prize.

The next stop on the LAPT is the Punta Del Este, which starts today in Uruguay. Qualify for events like these at PokerStars now.
